George A. Strait Fellow

Biography

Emma Ray is the library’s George A. Straight fellow and a current MSLS student at UNC’s School of Data and Information Sciences on the Archives and Records Management track.

She earned her B.A. in Hispanic Linguistics and English & Comparative Literature from UNC in 2022. Her focus was on pre-1900 British and American literature. Upon graduation, Emma received a Fulbright grant that took them to Spain, where they taught English for two years.

Emma has also spent time in the legal tech industry, which pushed her to pursue a career in law librarianship. Their research interests lie in the history of legal recordkeeping and the establishment of punitive systems in the Middle Ages.
