January 25, 2019

UNC School of Law’s Professor Maria Savasta-Kennedy has published a new book: North Carolina Environmental Law (2018). Check it out in print at the Law Library or view it online via LexisAdvance

Professor Savasta-Kennedy’s book starts with a chapter containing an overview of the structure of NC environmental laws and the regulatory process, providing readers with an understanding of the regulatory framework that environmental law operates within. The chapters that follow contain information regarding specific environmental law topics, including air quality; water quality and resources; wetlands; coastal management; solid and hazardous waste; underground storage tanks; mineral, land, and natural resources; energy; and environmental justice.  Each chapter contains an overview of the topic, the NC and federal administrative agencies that regulate in the area, and a discussion of the important state and federal statutes and regulations.

Conducting environmental law research? Don’t forget to consult the UNC Law Library’s Environmental and Energy Law Research Guide. It contains information about useful secondary sources, important statutes and regulations, and where to find cases regarding environmental and energy law topics.
