West Study Aids Digital Collection for Academic Success

Want to improve your understanding of legal concepts? Expand upon the readings assigned in class? Quiz your progress on an area of law? You can do these tasks and more with the West Study Aids Digital Collection. The law library provides access to more than 500 online study aids to Carolina Law students and faculty through the collection. The West Study Aids Digital Collection includes study aids and full-text books such as Nutshells, Gilbert Law Summaries, Hornbooks and more for most areas of law and law school courses. There are a variety of ways to access this collection.
USING A LAW LIBRARY COMPUTER
You can view the entire collection from any law library computer by visiting the West Study Aids website.
EDUROAM WIFI OR PERSONAL COMPUTER
You can also use the digital collection if you are connected to eduroam wifi on campus. If you are off-campus, access is available by entering your ONYEN and password, as long as you access West Study Aids through the Law Library proxy server.
CREATING A PERSONAL ACCOUNT
In a few easy steps you can create a personal account for West Study Aids by using your school email address. With a personal account you have the ability to mark titles as favorites, add notes, highlight and download titles for offline access.
1. Go to subscription.westacademic.com
2. Click ‘Create an Account’ in the upper right-hand corner and follow the prompts
3. Please use your school email address
4. Setup your account and verify your email address
Once your account is properly set-up, you can log-in independently from UNC Law Library’s network.
ADDITIONAL ACCESS
You may also access individual titles from the study aids collection using the UNC Libraries catalog search. You can visit the law library website or http://search.lib.unc.edu/ to access the catalog, where you’ll be able to enter the title of the study aid you’re looking for. For instance, if you are looking for “Torts in a Nutshell” – just type the title into the catalog search box and then open the catalog record page for the e-book. Clicking on the link next to the words “Online Access” will take you directly to the resource within the study aids collection.
On the go? Download the West Academic Library app and access study aids or audio titles from your mobile device! This app is free on the Apple Store App or in Google Play.
We also have many of these titles available in the Law Library’s print Study Aids Collection which is located between the Circulation and Reference desks on the main floor of the library.
