The Law Library provides a number of services for Research Assistants including an RA Library Card with special loan privileges, Interlibrary Loan and Book/Article Delivery, and free printing and copying through the Faculty Services Center.
Mandatory Training for New Research Assistants
All new summer Research Assistants must complete a MANDATORY session of RA training that covers library basics (RA Library Cards, ILL services, Lexis/Westlaw/Bloomberg access, etc.) and useful legal resources (HeinOnline, Bloomberg/BNA, ProQuest Congressional, FDsys and interdisciplinary materials).
Optional Training for Returning Research Assistants
Returning Research Assistants who completed the training the previous year have the option to attend an update session.
If you have any questions about RA training, please contact Reference Librarian Tim Gallina (email@example.com).
Research Assistant Library Cards
Research Assistant Library Cards are separate borrower's cards issued to authorized Research Assistants in the faculty member's name.
Materials will receive the same loan as a regular faculty loan.
Faculty are subject to fines (according to the policy of the lending library) and will be responsible for all charges accrued.
Both the Faculty member and the Research Assistant will receive overdue notices, pickup notices, and bills for items checked out on this card, with the RA's name attached.
To obtain an RA Library Card complete the following form (), have the faculty member sign it, and return it to Stacey Byrd (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Circulation Department.
Interlibrary Loan and Book/Article Delivery
Research Assistants may use their RA Library Cards to request materials for faculty members through Interlibrary Loan and Book/Article Delivery. Books may be requested using an assigned RA username and password.
Research Assistants may renew materials checked out on their RA Library Card online through MyLibrary using their RA username and designated password.
Research Assistants have access to a cubicle on the fifth floor of the Law School. The cubicle contains two computers and a printer that may be used for research assignments.
Printing and Copy Services
Printing and Copy Services are available to Research Assistants through Faculty and Administrative Services located on the fifth floor of the Law School in room 5125. RAs may print for free on the designated computers in the RA cubicle and free copy services are available in the faculty suite with an appropriate copy code.
