Delivery Options
Requests are processed the day received and are sent via first class US Mail, generally on the next business day. We can also send requests via FedEx overnight shipping if you provide a valid FedEx account number. Photocopy requests also have the option of delivery via email or fax, unless the photocopy is too large to be sent electronically. (Note: Photocopy requests in excess of 100 pages may require additional processing time.)
Due to budget and staffing cuts, we can no longer guarantee rush service. Please contact the Interlibrary Loan Manager (919-962-1196) to request rush service.
Loan Periods and Fees
Loan periods are 45 days. Renewals may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
- Loans: $15.00 per item
- Photocopies (including email delivery): $0.25 per page with a $10.00 minimum.
- FAX: $0.50 per page + $15.00 processing charge
Billing
Invoices will be mailed at the first of each month.
Copyright Compliance
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of Copyright Law.

Standard office hours for ILL are Tuesday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At other times, requests may be submitted through the online forms or by leaving a voicemail at 919-962-1196. If you have an urgent request and are unable to reach the Interlibrary Loan Manager, please call the Access Services Librarian at 919-962-3474.
