The Law Library provides reference services via email, phone, and chat in addition to serving walk-in patrons.
Please note that law the librarians are not permitted to give legal advice. In addition, many questions require
detailed research in the library and are not within the scope of this service.
Ask a Law Librarian: This service provides reference help via email. It is checked each
morning, Monday through Friday, excluding weekends, holidays, and vacation periods. You may expect a reply to
your question within 24 hours of the time a librarian receives it.
Phone Reference: More rapid service may be obtained by calling the reference desk at 919-962-1194.
Chat Reference: The buddy name of the UNC Law Library is lawchat4u. It is
intended only for UNC law students. More information is available.
Other UNC E-mail Reference Services: Non-legal reference questions may be sent to the
Davis Reference Department. In addition, the
Health Sciences Library also maintains an
